How to attach a funtube to the boat?
It all starts, of course, with the purchase of a funtube. But how do you know whether the model you have chosen is suitable for your boat? And how do you then secure it?
Attaching a funtube to the boat doesn't have to be difficult. We will give you a number of tips on how to find the right funtube and how to attach it the best way. So you can get out on the water soon and have lots of fun!
1. Find the right funtube
In our assortment you will find a wide range of different types of funtubes. They are available in various models, sizes and shapes, which gives you a lot of choice. However, this can make it difficult to find the right one for your boat.
First of all, look at how many people you want to be able to take along on the funtube. Then look at which models remain and which one appeals most to you. In principle, any funtube can be attached to any boat, provided that you use the correct funtube accessories. We will come back to this later.
Are you the owner of a boat with less power? Then we recommend that you buy a smaller (1 person) funtube. It is important that the funtube has a high volume, so that the boat does not lose too much power and can pull the tube forward more easily.
2. Use a bungee rope
Naturally, you want to be able to enjoy your funtube for as long as possible. However, a funtube is constantly subjected to high pulling forces by the boat. To protect not only the funtube, but also the boat, it is advisable to use a bungee rope.
- The elastic effect of such a rope ensures that the heavy blows are better absorbed. This means that you can use your funtube longer and make the most of its lifespan.
You attach the bungee rope to the towing pole or the towing eye at the back of the boat and of course to the funtube. Then one or more people can take place on the funtube and the driver of the boat can give it a go. Now the fun can finally begin!
3. Take the boat propeller into account
You are going to attach the funtube to the boat, but have you taken the boat propeller into account? It could be that the line comes dangerously close to the propeller. Therefore, avoid damage to both the motor and the rope by using a 'bridle'.
A bridle is a special kind of rope that you attach to the left and right back of the boat. This causes the first part of the line to run towards each other in a V-shape, after which it continues as one solid rope. This way, the rope goes around the engine and the chance of the line ending up in the boat propeller is zero.
4. Safety first
Now that you know how to attach your funtube to the boat and what to pay attention to, it is also important to consider safety. In all cases, safety comes first and is an essential part of a successful day on the water.
In addition to the fact that all those on board must have a life jacket at their disposal, it is advisable for those on the funtube to wear one. Speeds of around 25 km/h on the back of the funtube are already quite high and feel even higher. And it is guaranteed that at least one person will fall off.
The impact on the water can be very hard and you may even lose your bearings underwater for a moment. In that case, you will be glad you have a life jacket on, as it will point you in the right direction, namely towards the water surface.
