2) Do not inflate the board fully in the hot sun
Are you going to enjoy a hot summer day on the water with your SUP board? Then keep in mind that you need to not fully inflated.
This is because warm air will expand, and despite the cool water, the expansion of the air in the board will be faster than you think. With a SUP pump you can specify exactly how much PSI of air you need in the board.

Moreover, this also applies to temporary storing your board during hot summer days. Do you put the board in the shed for a few days? Then make sure you let some air out, as the air in the board can expand.

1) Let your board dry out well
One of the most important parts of SUP board maintenance is to let your board dry after use. We advise you not to let your board dry in the sun, but in the shade.
In the sun, the air in the board can still expand, which can cause cracks. It is also possible to use a towel to dry the board. In any case, make sure that the board is completely dry before storing it in the shed or storage bag.
2) Drain the board completely
Do you have a inflatable SUP?
- Then drain the board completely after drying up
- Then roll up the SUP and put it back in the storage bag if necessary
- Always check that all the air is actually out though
3) Press the valve firmly in place
For both the life of the SUP as the valve, it is important that you press the valve properly and turns downwards. As a result, the SUP board air pressure namely off and all the air can escape completely.
When deflating your SUP board, there may be a a lot of noise caused by the air pressure present. Therefore it is a possibility to have a 'silent air remover', which greatly muffles the sound.
4) Roll out the board once more to dry thoroughly.
With an inflatable SUP, it is highly recommended to roll out the board again to let it dry. After deflating the board, you will notice that there is still some moisture present.
So it never hurts to let the board dry out again after you have drained it when you get home. This way you can be sure that no unwanted moisture remains in the bag.
