Would you like to make a long SUP trip despite the risks? Then make sure you have the right equipment. For example, take snacks, dry clothes, warm drinks and possibly a waterproof lamp in a drybag. If, for example, you fall into cold water, you can change clothes and drink something warm to regain your temperature. If something happens during your trip that makes you come back later than expected, it is helpful to have a lamp with you, as it gets dark earlier in the winter.

Especially your ears are very important, because on the shore it can be quite comfortable, but on the water the temperature is very different. So always provide warmth for your whole body.
Do not wear cotton clothing when going in the water in winter. A lot of people think that this is nice and warm, but once you get into the water your clothes are immediately soaked. This can cause hypothermia and we want to avoid that. Instead, wear clothes made of fleece or something similar. This fabric retains body heat better and will not get soaked easily.
