What is the history of Black Friday?

The origins of Black Friday are a bit vague, but most historians believe it began in Philadelphia. Apparently, the city's police called the day after Thanksgiving "Black Friday" because of the hectic traffic and crowds in the city.

Eventually, the term found its way to Wall Street, where it was used to describe the massive sell-off that often took place on the day after Thanksgiving.

Until when are the Black Friday deals valid?

Black Friday officially lasts for 24 hours. From 25 November 00:00 to 23:59. During this period, all Black Friday deals will be valid, but in practice we see that the special offers are often active for longer. For instance, there are several shops with Pre-Black Friday deals, which are already active up to one week in advance.

In addition, most Black Friday deals will be valid longer than until the official end of Black Friday. In practice, we see that several offers are still active for one or more weeks, giving you some time to make Christmas purchases. Just keep in mind that the longer you wait, the more deals will sell out. Therefore, look in advance at various products on your wish list to find out if there may already be any Pre-Black Friday deals.
