Raymond Scholte |

A day of sailing with friends or family is fun, but you can make it even more fun with a fun tube. But how should you attach a fun tube to a boat and what should you take into account?

Before you go out on the water with a boat and a fun tube , it is important that you make a number of preparations. It is therefore wise to read yourself thoroughly first, so that you can avoid common mistakes.

We are happy to tell you more about attaching a fun tube behind the boat. Will you read with us?

How should you attach a funtube to the boat?

Of course it all starts with the purchase of a funtube. But how do you know whether the model you have chosen is suitable for your boat? And how should you then confirm it?

Attaching a fun tube to the boat does not have to be very difficult. Based on a number of tips, we will tell you exactly how to find the right funtube and how best to attach it. This way you can soon go out on the water and have a lot of fun!

1. Find the right funtube

In our range you will find a wide range of different types of fun tubes. They are available in various models, sizes and shapes, so you have a huge choice. However, this can sometimes make it difficult to find the right one for behind your boat.

First of all, look at the number of people you want to join on the fun tube. Then you see which models remain and which appeals to you the most. In principle, any funtube can be attached to any boat, provided you use the right funtube accessories. We will come back to this later.

Should you be the owner of a boat with less power? Then we recommend purchasing a smaller (1 person) fun tube. It is important that the fun tube has a high volume, so that the boat does not lose too much power and can pull the tube forward more easily.

2. Use a bungee rope

It goes without saying that you want to be able to enjoy your funtube for as long as possible. However, a funtube constantly has to deal with high pulling forces through the boat. Not only to protect the fun tube, but also the boat, it is advisable to use a bungee rope.

  • The elastic effect of such a rope ensures that the heavy blows are better absorbed. This means you can use your funtube for longer and the lifespan will be optimally utilized.

You attach the bungee rope to the towing pole or the towing eye at the rear of the boat and of course to the fun tube. Then one or more people can take place on the fun tube and the driver of the boat can accelerate. Now the fun can finally begin!

3. Consider the boat propeller

You are going to attach the funtube to the boat, but have you taken into account the boat propeller (screw)? It could just be that the line is getting dangerously close to the propeller. Therefore, prevent damage to both the motor and the rope by using a 'bridle'.

A bridle is a special type of rope that you attach to the left and right rear of the boat. As a result, the first part of the line will converge in a V-shape, after which it will continue as one sturdy rope.

As a result, the rope runs around the motor and the chance that the line will still end up between the boat propeller is equal to zero.

4. Safety comes first

Now that you know how to attach the funtube to the boat and what to look out for, it is also important to take safety into account. In all cases, safety comes first and is an essential part of a successful day on the water.

In addition to the fact that all persons on board must have a life jacket at their disposal, it is advisable to provide the people on the fun tube with a life jacket. At the back of the funtube, speeds around 25 km/h are already quite hard and even feel much harder. And it is guaranteed that at least one person will be screwed and fall off.

The impact on the water can be very hard and you can even lose your orientation underwater for a moment. In that case, you'll be glad you're wearing a life jacket, as it will send you in the right direction, namely towards the water's surface.
